Following graduation I immediately started working for Metropolitan Life Ins. Co. In 1964 I married my high school sweetheart, Bill Fickes, and moved to CT. We actually met and started dating in junior high school before I moved from Altoona to Levittown. I was a stay at home mom while raising our son and daughter. After they were grown I was a Librarian's Assistant for 15 years. Bill retired with 43 years of service from Sikorsky Aircraft where he was a Leadman in the flight hangar. For the last two years I have been promoting awareness of 'Pregnancy and Infant Loss Remembrance Day', Oct. 15th every year. Light a candle at 7pm your time zone. I'm also fighting for the issuance of a 'Certificate of Birth Resulting in Stillbirth' for parents of stillborn babies. Most states only issue a death certificate--no birth certificate.(www.MISSingAngelsBill.org) I volunteer at our church in a number of ministries. Recently I took on setting up our church library. We are loving retirement and now have plenty of time to enjoy our granddaughters who are keeping us young!!
