We went to Washington D.C. back in 1984 and found Lee's name on the Viet Name Memorial Wall. I can still hear the football announcer, "Clickner on the carry." Miss you, Lee.

David Rice, I’m sorry to hear about your neighbors being killed in the Escalante National Park. I’ve been prospecting in that general area many times and its beauty is truly breathtaking. When tragedy hits someone close to me I try to get through it by thinking about them and how they might have changed the world to be a better place had they lived. Then I try in some small way to fill that void in my personal life, by trying to be a better person. A big influence on me, for example, was a class mate of ours, Lee Clickner, who was killed in Viet Nam shortly after graduation. I have thought about his tragic death many times and what a fine young man he was, and how he would have clearly made the world a better place because of the patterns he had set in his personal life. It is as though he set an example for me to improve where I am weak. Lee was always cheerful and kind and disciplined, traits I admired but lacked. I don’t know how else to justify tragedy; trying to ignore it seems empty. Enough heavy talk. I’m excited to participate in our reunion in just a few days, and thanks, again, for the big part you played in its success.. Richard Robertson

My lasting memory of Lee is shortly after graduation. A bunch of us were just driving around. We just happened to drive past Lees house. The memory I have still to this day is of Lee sitting on the steps smiling and waving. Nothing special, but that one memory was etched into my brain to this day.
What waste!
